The Moderate Walking Group spent some time in the peaceful surrounds of Balsom Park this morning. This park is situated along the banks of the Waiwhakaiho River, off the end of William Street. Research suggests that the old concrete and rusted metal structures are remnants of a family-owned quarry operating up until 1979. If anyone knows more, we would love to be able to add to the story.
