14th October at 1.30 pm
U3A Public meeting
Brooklands Church, Bideford Street.
Guest Speaker: Bruce Petty.
This month’s speaker, American-born Bruce Petty, served in the US Navy during the Vietnam war on board the USS Yorktown, an Essex class aircraft carrier.
He graduated from the University of California with a degree in history. He is an authority on the Pacific theater during the Second World War and has written three books on this subject. Bruce now lives in New Plymouth.
It will be fascinating to hear about Bruce’s experiences and some history of WW2 in the Pacific region – an area known to many Kiwi servicemen.
Our meeting will conclude with meet and greet, chats and a cuppa, with opportunity to join groups and check out the gopher table.
All welcome - Nau mai, haere mai
